AUSTRALIAN MADE
Hi The Iconic,
Australia has had a horrible 2020. First the bushfires, and now Covid-19 (which yes I know is global but Australia is a small economy and this will hit it hard).
I so badly want to support AUSTRALIAN MADE products, not just aussie labels.I shop pretty much online exclusively and although I try to buy Australian brands you can't always check the label on the back of the jeans to check where its made.
Could you have a area of the website (or even a banner on the homepage) dedicated to AUSTRALIAN MADE. In this current climate, I think this could be very well received by the public.
Thanks!!

Agreed but if these Australian made brands are poorly designed and overpriced, they will not bring any attention to me.

Agreed Annalise, I prioritise Australian made and owned both in person and online purchases with everything feasibly attainable, from food, homewares, stationery, clothing and accessories, to me it is not about the price. I earn well below average but have paid higher for Aussie made but only if also Aussie owned, knowing it boosts local employment and economy. Having grown up in a jobs-scarce economy, I am happy to help employ local people especially young people. Made in Melbourne is a bonus. Also, laws in certain other countries do not uphold human rights and ethical practices, personally, this is a huge motivator for me when making a purchase. If I knowingly purchase from an international jurisdiction that is complicit in human rights atrocities and/or abuses and environmental crimes, it does NOT sit right with me on any level and I will avoid it no questions asked. Fair trade is important and cheap labour is slave labour and I want no part of it. Having said this, you need to check local manufacturers are not engaging in local slave trade/sweatshops taking advantage of immigrants. I only invest ethically in the sharemarket too. It is about quality, not quantity.

Yes. We need this 100% Aussie businesses, so we can help those in our own backyard.

People chose with their wallets. It is easy to show support in online comments, but not so easy when you have to part with your hard earned money.
I've seen comments like "Cut the imports from China"... You must be joking. There would be almost nothing left to buy.... -

A 'made in' label would be great. I would like to support made in NZ / AU and Pacific island products as far as possible

I love this idea but I feel like the Australian designers also need to be featured. I am a designer and as much as we would love to manufacture in Australia it is EXTREMELY expensive being a start-up brand. So please have some respect to the Australian designers that are doing it tough regardless where they manufacture.

We live in a great country with great resources I buy only Aus made with what I eat so why not what I wear. 100% support this idea. I might shop online with you more if you did all Australian because at least I know the quality will be good.

Great Idea! It wouldn’t need a special section. Only tell us, where every little bit is made.

Unfortunately not much is made in Australia, even higher end clothing is made in China
Over the years consumers want fast cheap fashion, you constantly read in the news about Australian business closing down.
People scream for Aussie made but then complain when the price is double. -

Great idea, even with an iconic Australian company like RM Williams some of their products are made overseas

In general most people would like to see Australian made merchandise, however they won't pay for it.
This has been the same for 50 years.Hence the rise of manufacturing in Asia. -

Everyone is all for this until you're paying 4x as much for an inferior product
